17 July 2009 - LGG Meeting
The Local Government Group met on Friday July 17th 2009 at the Westminster Archives Centre. The theme for the meeting was ''Information Security''. The meeting was sponsored by Oyster IMS.
The day opened with a presentation about the LGCRS and the progress which is being made with the project. Alison North from Genuine Group presented information about the way in which the legislation for the project has been researched and then presented screen shots of the final lay out for the database. There were some questions about the development of the product, the development of the LGCS and the costs surrounding the use of the database. This was followed by a demonstration of CA Records Manager by Oyster IMS focusing on how this technology can manage records in Sharepoint, facilitate eDisclosure and support FOI workflow processes.
Andrea Simmons from Simmons Professional Services then gave an information and entertaining presentation entitled ''Achieving Best Practice in Information Security in the Public Sector''. A copy of the presentation can be found below.
This was followed by a short, taster presentation on Information Assurance in Central Government. A copy of his presentation can be found below.
After lunch the Local Government Group meeting took place, where the members present voted unanimously to extend the remit of the Local Government Group to include all public sector organisations and will be known in the future as the Public Sector Group. The next meeting will be held on Friday November 6th 2009 at the Westminster Archives Centre and the theme will be ''Sharepoint , EDRMS and Records Management''. The meeting is being sponsored by Opentext.
