John Davies, TFPL

John Davies – Senior Information Management consultant at TFPL John Davies combines extensive business content with a rich experience of Information and Knowledge management in the public and private sectors. He is particularly interested in how to help people thrive at work and in ways in which work can be made a more inclusive and rounded experience.
He worked for ten years as an archivist and records manager in Herefordshire and Birmingham before moving to the private sector in 1988. For the next 15 years, he worked as a records and information manager and information policy manager in a wide variety of roles in the pharmaceutical and finance sectors. He joined TFPL in 2004.
John has undertaken a wide range of management and consultancy activities including:
- Supporting clients in the UK and across Europe to develop information strategies
- Managing information services including libraries, records, archives, web design and information education
- Interim information management for the Olympic Delivery Authority during 2007-08
- Strategic development and implementation of records management programmes in the UK, USA, and Europe including the design and implementation of policy, guidelines, standard operating procedures and end-user training programmes
- Facilitation, training and coaching information professionals
John studied at the universities of Sussex and Liverpool and has an Ashridge Masters in Organisational Consulting. He is a certified PRINCE 2 Practitioner but believes that project management is an attitude to getting work done that goes beyond project management methods.
